Prego… Not the Spaghetti Sauce

So I’ve been absent from here for a while - I apologize. No doubt you’ve read LA Daddy’s blog and know that I’m pregnant with our second child. Yay! I’m very excited about this - I just need to get through the first 3 months of adjusting to being pregnant and then it should be a breeze.

After all, my previous pregnancy was pretty much a piece of cake. Not so with this one. Just typing “piece of cake” makes me nauseous. Everything makes me nauseous. At every time of day. Even several times during the night. This sucks. It started about 10 days ago - the nausea. I’m not a puker (unless i’m on my death bed) so I’ve been nauseous 24/7 for the past week and a half. I’ve tried ginger in every form. No relief.

I’ve learned that Preggie Drops are the greatest thing ever made - - for about 30 minutes. I FINALLY had my first OB visit last week and the blessed doctor wrote me a script for some fabulous medicine to ease the nausea. And that’s what it did - for about 4 days. Now I’m back to being miserable. UGH! But enough of this.

What does this all mean? I’ll tell you. I’m having a boy. I swear it. I can just FEEL it. Really! But for backup I consulted the Chinese Lunar calendar and calculated my age against the month of conception and yep… I’m having a boy. Woohoo!

We’ll have one of each. This has LA Daddy over the moon but he’s not showing it because I think he’s afraid he’ll wish too hard or something and he’ll not get a son. Not that having another girl would be at all bad. It would be great, actually; we’ve already got more clothes than LA Toddler ever managed to wear - and they’re cute so I wouldn’t mind seeing them again. But having a boy would be just fabulous. We’d have one of each. and that’s just plain cool.

The other thing that’s really cool is that this baby will be born just prior to my Dad’s birthday. His second grandchild - for a birthday present - it just doesn’t get any better than that! AND… check this out. My due date is the date of my best friend’s daughter’s 7th birthday. This is wild.

Finally - everyone says “oh you get bigger with the second (and subsequent) pregnancy” but I had noooooo idea. Look at me! This is what I looked like at 4 months with LA Toddler. I guess I get to skip that “nothing fits” phase and go straight into the gigantic belly pants. Fun! Not so fashionable though. Oh well - it’s soooo worth it!

Congratulations!! Yes, I found you through LA Daddy and him through a mommy blogger. I have to say I do agree with what you’ve been told… you do get bigger after the 1st, but the good thing is it comes off. ;) I just gave birth to #4 two weeks ago.

I had the same nauseousness from 7 weeks until about 26 weeks. All day every day. The only thing that would make me puke though was taking my prenatal vitamins. My doctor finally had me taking Flintstones chewables. I eventually lost 15 pounds. I did gain it all back plus ten though, once I was feeling human again. ;) I think that you are probably having a boy though as well, because that’s what everyone told me. Good luck with everything! :)

    Congrats on LA Embryo!

I’m not going to promise that you’re having a boy but…My first was a girl and I was pretty sick those first few months. My second was a boy and I was way sicker with him.

I remember walking into the supermarket in my second month and the smell of the grocery store - which I had never noticed before - was so sickening I wouldn’t step foot in it for another month or two.

Also, a roaster chicken I cooked around then smelled so disgusting, I’ve never made one since. That was 13 years ago.

And I won’t even go into how tired I was with my son.

Then my son’s position caused me to walk funny in my second trimester…

Anyway, all my best to you. Make sure you let LA Daddy take care of LA Toddler as much as possible!
