Doing My Part
Published January 23rd, 2007 in Me.
So I’m reading an article on CNN.com about several CEOs of Fortune 500 companies that have asked our president to support mandatory reductions on pollution.
It really makes you realize that the problem is real and it could not only cause problems for us, but for our kids as well. One thing that L.A. Daddy did a while back was change all of the light bulbs in our house to the fluorescent halogen bulbs. We’ve got them all over the house. And I noticed an immediate drop in our electric bill (changing out our old refrigerator really did the trick, but the bulbs had a noticeable impact.)
I fought it at first. I didn’t like the look of the lights. It made the rooms feel bluish and cold. And some of them buzz rather loudly. But, you know, I got used to them and now it’s a non-issue. But all the talk of global warming and reducing the mark or environmental footprint we leave behind might be a bunch of hype… but so what? Even if it’s premature to say we’re causing problems, why not do our part now? Just in case?
So, I’m going to do my part. Even if it’s just a small part. I’m asking all of you people out there with regular light bulbs in your house to go to the Home Depot and pick up some halogen or fluorescent bulbs and replace your normal bulbs. They last longer and use less energy.
And I think someone once said that if every household in America replaced just one light bulb that… the hole in the ozone would go away. Or something beneficial like that.
Just do it and let me know. Please?
