Celebrity Adoptions
Published October 17th, 2006 in Me.The media is beating this Madonna story to death – there have been at least 3 ‘updates’ to the story on CNN today alone. Here’s my take on the issue:
Children need attention and love. Living in an orphanage with hundreds of other children who are also grieving their parents deaths, or who’s parents are too poor to care for them, is no way to grow up.
If affluent celebrities have the time and energy to care for these children then… let them. I have a feeling these children will get more affection and attention from even the celebrity nannies than they will in the orphanages. What frustrates me is that the media focuses on the few children who are lucky enough to get “picked” by a celebrity. Stop condemning the kids –- they’ve got no parents, no one to attend to their physical or emotional needs!
If anyone deserves to live in a mansion and get spoiled rotten it’s one of these children. I was happy to learn that Madonna is donating and raising money for an orphanage in Malawi.
Kudos to you, Madonna (and Angelina, Meg, etc.) for LOVING children…
