Rockin’ Round The Christmas Tree…

It’s October 18th. 6:20pm. L.A. Toddler and I are inching our way up the 101 after a long hard day of work and play. And what appears in the dusky sky? A Christmas Tree atop the CAPITOL RECORDS BUILDING! Oh. it’s beautiful, with its twinkling red and white lights… but, uh, wait, it’s not even dark enough outside to see it real well. Maybe because… oh, I don’t know… it’s October-freakin’ 18th and we haven’t even made the jump from Daylight Savings Time yet, let alone Halloween and Thanksgiving is still a ways off in the distance -– ugh! This is making my head hurt! What is the fascination with running all our holidays together? Have you thought about what you’re doing for Valentine’s Day 2007 yet?

The Capitol Records building is one of the coolest buildings in our LA skyline (in fact, it’s on my blog illustration!) so it should be set ablaze in lights but sheesh… so soon?!

I agree - I’m tired of having to rush and buy Halloween things because by this weekend they’ll all have been dumped in a clearance bin to make way for Christmas decorations.

And my biggest pet peeve? How they clear out all of the summer items in July to make way for fall and winter things. This is L.A., people! We don’t HAVE fall or winter!
