Hi! Long time, no blog.
I won’t bore you with the details but here’s a rundown of the last two weeks. I’m working full time, my mother-in-law visited, my daughter was ill, my cat had to have a minor surgery (at a major cost!), and we just found out L.A. Toddler’s daycare might be closing (sad […]
Every day, L.A. Toddler and I drive to her daycare. And every night we drive home. We usually spend quite a long time in the car together. She’s got several CDs of kids music to listen to and I’ve heard them over and over and… over and over. Luckily, the holidays have come up and […]
So, L.A. Toddler and I are driving to her daycare this morning. A guy cuts me off on the street near her school.
Without thinking, I shout out, “Jesus, jerk! You almost hit me!” And I gave him the business end of my car horn for good measure.
L.A. Toddler yells out from the back seat, “Jesus […]
L.A. Toddler has a practically lifelong best friend already. He’s a sweet boy (hereafter referred to as Sweet Boy… nope, too long. How about SB?) and she met him at her daycare. Way back when they were only 8 months old. Their birthdays are a week apart. They’ve both got sandy blonde hair and light […]
So I’ve not written in a while - here’s the reason:
It’s Saturday night, L.A. Daddy is off working a special gig - covering for a friend - and I’ve got Emma in bathed and in bed. I’m knitting away at a scarf and watching old movies to pass the time until Tim gets home. […]
Well, I’ve been pretty busy taking care of L.A. Daddy. But… I’m finally back to work today. I got a chance to talk to L.A. Toddler’s teacher and she told me something that Emma had said to her today.
Emma had transitioned into the Toddler room at her daycare recently so she’s not sure where everything […]
You’ll do it, and like it, because I said so!

That little voice saying “You did it, Mamma!” She’s smiling from ear-to-ear and beaming with genuine feelings for whatever cool thing you did.
So L.A. Toddler and I are commuting home last night and she was chattering away… […]
Over the weekend, L.A. Toddler was finishing up her dinner. She threw back her sippy cup and sucked hard for all it was worth but, alas, the cup was empty. She had drank all her milk; there was no more… She turned, looked at me and said:
“Mommy. This sippy cup not working!”
Priceless.
Not quite yet, but… we’re getting there. Any and all advice is appreciated. I’ve read countless books and websites on the subject and the one message they all blast loud and clear is that ‘when they’re ready it will happen’.
Couldn’t someone have just TOLD us this? We’re at the point where she sees her […]
This summer, L.A. Toddler got to explore the park near where I grew up in Ohio. She even rode on a lot of the same rides that I went on when I was a kid. Do you remember these cars? Some things just never change…
