There is nothing more fun, rewarding, and fulfilling than having your child take pride in something you’ve accomplished. That little voice saying “You did it, Mamma!” She’s smiling from ear-to-ear and beaming with genuine feelings for whatever cool thing you did.
So L.A. Toddler and I are commuting home last night and she was chattering away… […]

Quote of the Day

Over the weekend, L.A. Toddler was finishing up her dinner. She threw back her sippy cup and sucked hard for all it was worth but, alas, the cup was empty. She had drank all her milk; there was no more… She turned, looked at me and said:
“Mommy. This sippy cup not working!”
Priceless.

L.A. Daddy Rules

I knew he was ‘the one’ after our first date… but I didn’t know I knew that until about a year ago. I had just finished ranting about something really stupid like how he leaves his cereal bowl sitting in the sink and runs the bowl full of water so that it’s easier to […]

PeePee in the Potty!

Not quite yet, but… we’re getting there. Any and all advice is appreciated. I’ve read countless books and websites on the subject and the one message they all blast loud and clear is that ‘when they’re ready it will happen’.
Couldn’t someone have just TOLD us this? We’re at the point where she sees her […]

Matchy-matchy!

I’ve noticed a new trend and it’s starting to freak me out.
Let me begin with a little background. I’ve never been a girly-girl. Never wanted to really do everything my girlfriends do. Never claimed to be best friends with my mom or share clothes herher or any of that.
Yet somehow I’m scared that I’m turning […]

It’s October 18th. 6:20pm. L.A. Toddler and I are inching our way up the 101 after a long hard day of work and play. And what appears in the dusky sky? A Christmas Tree atop the CAPITOL RECORDS BUILDING! Oh. it’s beautiful, with its twinkling red and white lights… but, uh, wait, it’s […]

100 Things (continued)

Here’s a continuation from the previous 100 Things About Me:
93 - I’m a fabulous parallel parker. I back in, move forward about a foot and… voila! I’m done – and only 6 inches from the curb. My wheels have no scratches on them (knock on wood!)
92 - My husband has dinner ready for me […]

Celebrity Adoptions

The media is beating this Madonna story to death – there have been at least 3 ‘updates’ to the story on CNN today alone. Here’s my take on the issue:
Children need attention and love. Living in an orphanage with hundreds of other children who are also grieving their parents deaths, or who’s parents are too […]

My Welcome to the Mommy Club

So along with Desperate Housewives and Grey’s Anatomy, I’m a loyal fan of E.R. -– since the beginning, I’ve been a huge fan. I know, most of you gave up on it after the original McDreamy left (G.C.! Not Noah Wylie!)
I bring up the show because something happened on this week’s episode that hit close […]

Pic of the Day

This summer, L.A. Toddler got to explore the park near where I grew up in Ohio. She even rode on a lot of the same rides that I went on when I was a kid. Do you remember these cars? Some things just never change…
